Washing the face is something that everyone needs to do at least twice per day. Unfortunately, many skin care product lines give false advice on how you should go about washing your face. Below, you will find the correct steps that are needed to properly and effectively wash your face each day.
Wash your face in the morning and at night
You should be washing your face twice per day. Wash your face once in the morning as soon as you wake up and again at night right before you go to bed. Remember also that if you take part in any extreme physical activities throughout the day, you should shower and wash your face after you sweat as well
Do not use facial brushes or cleansing cloths
There is no need to use brushes or cleansing cloths when washing your face. In addition, you should only use facial cleansers with exfoliation beads once per week. Using a product that exfoliates every day will be too harsh for your skin.
Pull your hair back
The first step should be to wear a headband so that your hair is pulled back from your face and won’t get in the way when you are washing.
Splash your face with lukewarm water
In the second step, make sure your hands are clean and dry first. Stand in front of your bathroom sink, and slightly splash your face with lukewarm water.
Use a mild, non-comedogenic facial cleanser
You will want to purchase a cleanser that is non-comedogenic. This means that it will not clog your pores like some other facial cleansers will. Squirts about a quarter sized amount of cleanser onto your finger taps, and begin to lightly rub the cleanser into your skin. Do this for about fifteen seconds.
Rinse gently with cold water
You will now want to rinse off the cleanser, oil, dirt and makeup you have on your face with cold water. Why cold water? Cold water will help to close up your pores so that dirt and oil cannot seep into them and form pimples. Pat dry to finish.
Finally, remember that if you are a girl, you should never go to sleep with makeup on. At the very least, use a light cloth makeup remover before you go to bed. Makeup will most certainly clog pores and cause pimples. Follow all of the directions above for clean and clear skin year round.
